Consultant
Nick Eckford
Fellow of the IStructE advising insurers on Inherent Defects and Constructional All Risks cover.
Background
Following seven years with John Laing & Sons, and thirteen years with the Oscar Faber Partnership, Nick joined the Partnership in February 1986.
His responsibilities and experience have been wide and varied on everything from multi-million industrial and commercial projects to work in the domestic sector. He has significant expertise in structural assessment of buildings and the design of specialist structures, structural glazing and high specification cladding. He is also one of the leading designers for acoustic barriers.
In recent years Nick has built up a reputation within the insurance industry in relation to Inherent Defects and Constructional All Risks cover. He flies around the World inspecting some of the World's most prestigious projects such as The Burj Kalifa in Dubai, and the Huey P Bridge widening over the Mississippi in the USA.
Nick retired in 2009 but still works with the Partnership as a consultant. He is selective on the projects he takes on, picking all the prestige projects like Dubai Metro and a high specification glass entrance to an office in Sydney. He is presently advising on risk in connection with the Queensferry Crossing on the Forth.
Nick works alongside the rest of the partners and principal staff across our full range of services, from single beam calculations through to multi-million pound developments.
