Engineering team at work, careers at David French Partnership Luton

Situations Vacant

Engineering careers at David French Partnership, from CAD technician through to Partner.

Current vacancy

Chartered Engineer with potential for Partnership

We are currently looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer who would be interested in progressing rapidly to Partner level with the option of taking the company forward into the future.

The right person needs to meet the following requirements

  • Must be local to our offices or within easy commuting distance. We have found that people who suggest they are willing to relocate rarely do and tend not to stay with the company for long.
  • Must be used to working on a variety of projects from small works such as loft conversions and extensions through to large multi-million pound developments.
  • Must be used to working in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Must be able to prepare Structural Reports for domestic and commercial projects.

The position would suit someone who wants to be their own boss, but does not want to be working solely on their own. There is scope within the company to direct the future growth in any direction, giving the right applicant their own company but with the backing of other engineers and draughting staff.

As a provincial office, the working conditions are less pressured than some London companies and there is more scope to enable a good balance between work and home life.

Remuneration and benefits are open to negotiation but after a probation period include private health cover and also separate life cover.

No vacancy listed for you? Get in touch anyway

We are always interested in hearing from good engineers, CAD technicians and graduates who want to work on real variety rather than the same building type every week. Several of our current partners joined in junior roles and studied alongside the work, and we would rather meet the right person than wait for the right advert.

Real variety

One week a loft conversion, the next a multi-million pound development, a listed building or a facade package overseas.

A balanced week

As a provincial office, the working conditions are less pressured than some London companies and there is more scope for a good balance between work and home life.

Room to grow

Several of our partners joined as CAD technicians or junior engineers and studied alongside the work. That route is still open.

Health and life cover

After a probation period, remuneration packages include private health cover and separate life cover.

We would like to hear from

  • Chartered and Incorporated Structural Engineers
  • Graduate and junior civil and structural engineers
  • CAD technicians with AutoCAD or Revit experience
  • Engineers with structural inspection and reporting experience
  • Anyone considering a move out of a large London practice
